Your Mac Studio as a server

A powerful Mac, such as a Mac Studio, sits in your office or at home and does the heavy work: renders, exports, local AI models, builds, agents. Gatereach is being designed so you can reach it from anywhere with your iPhone, iPad or another Mac. A Mac Studio is just one example: Gatereach is designed for any Mac of yours that stays on and online somewhere, such as a Mac mini, an iMac or a MacBook.

Gatereach is in development and not yet available. What you read here describes how we are designing it; details may change before release. Pricing has not been announced.

How it might work in practice

Set it up where it lives. Install the Gatereach app on the Mac in your office or at home and pair once, at home.
Start the job. Kick off the render, the model run or the build, and leave.
Reach it from anywhere. Open Gatereach on your iPhone, iPad or another Mac. Face ID confirms the connection; that is how we are designing it.
Look in, then move on. Check how the job is doing, start the next one, and leave the Mac to it.

What “server” means here

We use the word in the everyday sense: a machine that does the heavy work while you are away. Gatereach does not host anything for you or for others. It is designed for you reaching your own Mac, not for sharing it with a team.

Limits, honestly

Gatereach is not released. Everything on this page is design intent.
The Mac needs power and a working network connection. If either is down at the Mac, you can’t reach it.
A Mac in your office is not a data centre. We make no promises about availability, speed or uptime.
The work runs on your Mac; Gatereach shows you your Mac’s screen. How smooth that feels depends on your network, and we publish no figures.
